1 critically injured in Oakland fireon February 14, 2021 at 9:42 am

A man was critically wounded in a fire early Sunday morning in Oakland on the South Side.

Firefighters responded to a blaze in the 3800 block of South Ellis Street, according to officials.

The 30-year-old man suffered burns and smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, fire officials said.

The blaze was put out by 3:40 a.m., according to fire officials

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
