3 Chicago Blackhawks legends are now helping with GM searchVincent Pariseon February 1, 2022 at 3:00 pm

The Chicago Blackhawks currently have a coach and general manager on an interim basis with Derek King and Kyle Davidson respectively. However, each of them will be a candidate but they will still conduct a search for the full-time position.

On Monday, the team announced that they are going to have three special advisors that will assist in finding the new general manager. Those three people are former Blackhawks legends in Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, and Eddie Olczyk.

These three will join Mike Forde and his group Sportology who have been assisting since the beginning of their process. It is going to be interesting to see who these people come up with for the right general manager.

The Chicago Blackhawks announced big GM advisory news on Monday night.

The announcement came from Danny Wirtz via social media just about a week after the team put out a note on the state of their searches. It sounds like this team is much more transparent these days than they were in the past. This could be what they need to get back to relevancy.

When you think about the guys who they picked, you get three completely different people. Marian Hossa was the best of the three as a player. He is in the Hall of Fame for being one of the greatest two-way wingers to ever live.

Patrick Sharp and Ed Olczyk were each very good goal scorers in different eras. Sharp played most of his career with Chicago and won three Stanley Cups as a teammate of Hossa. Olczyk played for the Hawks as well and is an Illinois native.

With these three brilliant hockey brains helping lead the way, the Hawks should be able to hire a very good general manager that should be able to bring in the best possible coach. These three know what it takes to win as they are all Stanley Cup champions in their NHL careers.

The bar is not very high after Stan Bowman’s departure. He was very bad at his job, especially towards the end, so there is a bit of work to do in order to get this franchise back to its winning ways. Hopefully, this is a step in the right direction.
