Alex DeBrincat is the best forward on the Chicago Blackhawks not named Patrick Kane. If NHL players went to the Olympics, he surely would have been a part of Team USA. Watching him develop over the past few years has been a treat.

DeBrincat fell a bit in the draft thanks to his size. That was proven to be a big mistake and now many teams wish they had this guy. The Hawks were the lucky ones who got him. He has made them very happy they took a risk on him when they did.

Now, DeBrincat just finished his first-ever All-Star weekend. He was one of the great performers in the NHL Skills Competition and then had a lot of success in the actual All-Star Game. He was a big part of the Central Division’s win over the Atlantic in the first game. They fell to the Metropolitan Division in the second game but DeBrincat was nothing short of awesome.

Going forward, people are going to start thinking about DeBrincat’s future. He has one more year left on his current contract after this year worth 6.4 million. That is very low for a forward that is going to push for 50 goals at times in his career. Few can finish a play as well as he can.

One option is a trade. The Blackhawks would probably get a lot for him right now because he has the rest of this year and all of next year for cheap. There are a lot of playoff-contending teams that could use him.

The Chicago Blackhawks could really get a fair amount back for Alex DeBrincat.

One of those teams is the Edmonton Oilers. DeBrincat played his junior hockey with Connor McDavid as a member of the Erie Otters and they were dominant together. Seeing these two reunite at the NHL level would be so cool. These three trades might land DeBrincat for the Oilers if they really wanted it:
