This weekend, Chicago Bears fans are spending another consecutive weekend watching playoff football without their hometown team.
One of these days, though, the Bears will be back playing late-January and early-February football. Hopefully sooner than later, but for now, we sit back and watch.
A common factor in the four teams left this Championship Weekend is that each squad has at least one top-tier wide receiver. The hottest names in football this weekend include guys like Ja’Marr Chase, Deebo Samuel, Cooper Kupp, Tyreek Hill, and others.
For the Bears to get back to the top, it is pretty clear: this team needs additional talent at the wide receiver position. When free agency kicks off, the Bears will be saying goodbye to Allen Robinson and immediately looking for a replacement to start next to Darnell Mooney.
Championship Weekend has a future few free agent wide receivers the Chicago Bears could choose to pursue.
Aside from those four names listed above, this weekend will feature even more talent at the receiver position — and some of them could be looking for a new team after this season is over.
The Bears will be looking at a pretty thin receiver room, with Mooney being the only major name under contract for 2022. Chicago will be facing their own free agent decisions with guys like Jakeem Grant, Damiere Byrd and Marquise Goodwin.
It is likely the Bears bring at least one of those guys back, and hopefully it’s Grant. After an All Pro season as a return specialist, Grant also proved he could be a weapon on offense when given the opportunity.
Beyond Mooney and Grant, though, the Bears would have their work cut out for them to fill in the gaps. Chicago would still need major work done at the receiver position. So, what about one of these options playing this weekend?
