Blackhawks News: Dach injury, Korchinski scores, and moreVincent Pariseon January 1, 2023 at 5:23 pm

On New Year’s Eve, there was a lot surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks. For one, they had a game of their own against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Like the Blackhawks, the Blue Jackets are one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League right now.

The Blackhawks came in with a two-point lead on them for the worst record in the league so this matchup was big for the lottery fans.

Luckily for Chicago, they prevailed with a 4-1 loss to Columbus. The lead for the top lottery odds is now at four points as they enter 2023. There could be some big things in store with just a little bit of luck on their side.

The Chicago Blackhawks are all about their prospects going into 2023.

Canada World Juniors

The Chicago Blackhawks are heavily invested in Team Canada’s play at the World Juniors for a variety of reasons. One of them is that they have four prospects on the team already drafted.

Unfortunately, one of them, Colton Dach, left their game on New Year’s Eve with an injury. It didn’t look good as he was in a tremendous amount of pain. It later came out that Dach will miss the rest of the tournament with a shoulder injury.

In the same game though, there was a bit of good news for Blackhawks fans as Kevin Korchinski lit the lamp for the first time in this tournament. He has been outstanding at setting up plays and making good defensive plays but it was really nice to see him finally score a goal.

The other two Blackhawks prospects, Nolan Allan and Ethan del Mastro each collected an assist as well. It was a great day for all of the defensemen the Hawks sent to this tournament. We just hope Dach is able to make a quick recovery from his injury.

In addition to their own prospects, watching Connor Bedard has been a pleasure for all hockey fans. He will be the number one overall pick and looks like a generational game-changer. The Blackhawks can only hope.

His Canada teammate Adam Fantilli certainly wouldn’t be a bad second-overall pick either. The second half of this year will be fun for all of them.

Other Blackhawks News:

2023 is here. This is the year that could be the last for Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in a Blackhawks jersey. Enjoy them while they are still in Chicago but it might not be long.

Getting good assets for expiring contracts is a sign of a healthy smart organization which is what the Blackhawks are trying to become again. These two likely won’t be the only two sent out.

Hopefully, whatever the decisions made are for everyone, they lead to the future success of the Blackhawks.
