Monster Jam Returns to Chicago for Another Year of Monster Truck Madnesson February 28, 2020 at 8:00 pm

Get excited, monster truck fans, because Monster Jam has made its way back to the city! Considered as one of the biggest events on four-wheels, Monster Jam pits some of the world’s most recognizable trucks in a fierce competition. This year’s event is at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont from February 28th – March 2nd. And it’s not too late to purchase tickets to see the show. From a pre-show pit party to head-to-head races and high-flying acrobatic competitions, Monster Jam has something for everyone!

The Monster Jam Trucks

Weighing in at over 12,000 pounds, these trucks are no joke. Each big rig at the show is approximately 10.5 feet tall, 12.5 feet wide, and 17 feet long. Their tires alone weigh 645 pounds! The trucks are designed to protect the drivers at all times. Specially constructed seats mold around the driver, and a roll-cage and harness system keeps them in place. At the Rosemont show, fans will get to see the trucks listed below compete all weekend!

Blue Thunder

El Toro Loco

Grave Digger

Max-D

Megalodon

Monster Mutt Rottweiler

Pirate’s Curse

Zombie

The Main Event

At Monster Jam, the show starts early with a pre-show Pit Party where fans can meet the drivers and get autographs and pictures. Guests are encouraged to come to the Pit Party, as there are plenty of activities to help them prepare for the show.

Following the Pit Party is the main event, where the competition begins with a timed challenge as drivers try to complete an obstacle course the fastest. The trucks will also compete in 1-on-1 races for the title of Racing Champion. The event also features some acrobatic competitions, where fans judge the trucks in a two-wheel skills challenge and freestyle competition. All drivers accumulate points throughout the Monster Jam show, but only one takes home the Event Champion crown.

Famed for upscale retail boutiques, Bentley car-dealerships, and embellished architecture, Rush Street in Gold Coast may not appear to be the go-to place for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Chicago. Amidst the glamor is an Irish bar gem: Pippin’s Tavern. A staple since the early 1970s, Pippin’s offers an extensive list of libations and an old-school, pub atmosphere. Should you get hungry, next door is Downtown Dogs — serving up authentic Chicago-style hot dogs at Pippin’s. For St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the parade from Pippin’s all the while enjoying a strong drink or draft Guinness.
