While the 2021 NFL Draft is still months away, what does a Chicago Bears mock draft look like in mid-August?
For the Chicago Bears, it’s clear that everyone right now is focused solely on 2020. However, in the NFL, the calendar never stops. Teams are forced to consistently look towards the future. For the Bears, despite the uncertainty with the jobs of head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace, things are no different.
In the football world, August is always an interesting time of year. In a normal, non-pandemic year, college football and NFL would be full-steam ahead. Teams would be reporting to training camp and chatter for the upcoming NFL Draft class would only grow louder.
Who are the top prospects? What are needs the Bears could address in 2021? These are questions right now that some may not want to answer because the 2021 NFL Draft is so far away, however, it’ll be here before any of us know it.
The 2021 NFL Draft is deep at multiple positions. Quarterback is headlined by Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, however wide receiver and tight end are two positions that are stacked with talent to the point where the Bears could select a prospect at either position and it could be considered a luxury pick.
There’s a few things to keep in mind when reading this mock draft. First, the draft order is not final. Second, an online simulator was used, courtesy of The Draft Network, which can be found here. Third, the draft picks you see here aren’t final and compensatory picks aren’t factored into the formula.

You won’t find a quarterback in this draft for two main reasons. First, the Bears defense is too good to ensure that the team lands in the Lawrence/Fields sweepstakes. Second, either Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky will be starting for the Bears in 2021. If Trubisky fails again in 2020 but Foles succeeds, the Bears will feel confident going into 2021 with Foles as the starter. Likewise, if Trubisky succeeds, he’s going to be the starter in 2021.
The 2021 NFL Draft may be nearly nine months away but it’s time for a way-too-early 2021 NFL Mock Draft. Let’s dive right in and see what the upcoming draft class could look like.
