With the first wave of NFL free agency essentially over, we now turn our attention to some players still available which the Chicago Bears could look at.
How would you grade the first week of free agency for the Chicago Bears? One thing is for sure: Fans are not exactly staying quiet about their varying opinions.
General manager Ryan Pace made a few moves this past week. While I’d like to say I have the utmost faith in him as a leader of the franchise, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t scratch my head once or twice since the opening of the new league year.
Pace addressed the tight end position quickly, bringing in Jimmy Graham — oh, we’ll get to that doozy of a deal later. That move was followed the next day by agreeing with one of the league’s elite pass rushers, Robert Quinn, as the Bears bolstered their already-fierce defense.
There were a few in-house moves as well as some minor deals with other free agents, but I think the most talked about transaction will be the Nick Foles trade.
Pace got his guy, and Foles should be the starter by Week 1 for a team looking at making a run. It’s clear the time is ticking for Mitchell Trubisky, and bringing in Foles should only fuel the flame under his seat. In the end, though, it has to be Foles under center.

The question now becomes, where do the Bears go from here? There have been rumblings of contract restructures and maybe an extension or two. Hopefully Pace can move some money around, because the Bears are strapped for cash right now.
If he can, there are still some intriguing names available in the free agent pool, and a lot of them could come cheaper than anticipated. Let’s look at a handful which would make for strong signings by Pace.
