Chicago Bears ownership feels it has hired the right general manager and head coach to win the NFC North and never give it back.

Throughout the process of finding Ryan Poles to be general manager and Matt Eberflus to be head coach, the Chicago Bears did not interview Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Declining to formally interview–the keyword being “formally” because it is still unclear if the Chicago Bears informally reached out to Harbaugh–may now come back to blow up in the franchise’s face.

The Minnesota Vikings are set to interview the former San Francisco 49ers head coach. The interview just happens to come on the first day of college football’s national signing day. Former Chicago Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt believes that means his former quarterback with the Bears will be back coaching in the NFL.

I think Jim Harbaugh is GONE to #NFL with either #Vikings or #Dolphins and it could be as soon as tomorrow don’t be surprised says @CoachWannstedt

If Minnesota pulls off hiring Harbaugh, the shine of bringing in Eberflus will turn into a shadow amongst a good portion of the Chicago Bears fan base. Harbaugh is not only is a former Bear quarterback but he is a proven winner as an NFL head coach.

The Chicago Bears might regret not hiring Jim Harbaugh as head coach.

Harbaugh went 44-19-1 during his four seasons in San Francisco. He also owns five playoff victories which are one more than the previous six Chicago Bears head coaches have combined. Harbaugh also led the 49ers to three straight NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance.

You would think with those credentials, Chicago Bears chairman George McCaskey would drive up to Ann Arbor, Michigan with a blank check no matter how difficult Harbaugh can be.

Instead, McCaskey and Poles chose Eberflus (a guy who has never been a head coach at any football level). If Harbaugh comes to the North, it may be hard for the Bears to take it and own it as Poles wants.
