The Chicago Bears could use an upgrade on the offensive line, specifically at guard. Former All Pro Kelechi Osemele appears to be interested.
It is no secret that the Chicago Bears are going to continue to address the offensive line throughout the offseason. Whether it be via the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft or taking a look at the additional waves of free agency, now that the frenzy is over, Chicago should still keep adding depth.
Just a few days ago, the Bears added former Seattle Seahawks starter Germain Ifedi. While he started 60 games over four seasons, Ifedi isn’t exactly a strong option to start at guard in Chicago. He is a strong depth signing, but he’s not the type of guy you want to depend on, due to his issues being penalized over the course of his career.
The Bears have had a hole at guard since Kyle Long decided to call it a career earlier this year, as the former Pro Bowl guard hadn’t been able to stay healthy over the last couple of seasons. Now, even after adding Ifedi, general manager Ryan Pace will undoubtedly add even more competition at that spot — and probably at tackle, too.
If any of you have been keeping up on Twitter over the course of the last two weeks, you’ve probably seen All Pro return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson out there recruiting for his squad. He has reached out to countless players, even more notable guys like Teddy Bridgewater and Tom Brady.
While it’s all fun and games, for the most part, he decided to continue his quest to land a free agent on Saturday, reaching out to former All Pro guard Kelechi Osemele.

Last season, the New York Jets handled Osemele’s injury situation in a questionable manner and ultimately released him mid-season. Osemele was playing with a torn labrum and opted for surgery, but the Jets took issue with him handling the issue his way and attempted to fine him multiple times.
Now, a free agent and 2-time Pro Bowler, Osemele is still without a new home. Should Pace take the chance on Osemele, assuming he’s healthy, he very well could come in and start in Long’s old spot.
Judging by the emoji, Osemele would likely be up for coming to Chicago. He knows he’d have a strong chance to start right away, and with a roster like the Bears are building, maybe a chance at a Super Bowl run.
We’re getting ahead of ourselves a little bit, but that Super Bowl dream would have to come on the heels of a strong season by either Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles — and my money is on the latter.
Get Osemele in Chicago, and either quarterback’s chances at success are improved immensely. It looks like he wants it to happen, so now it’s on Pace to bring him in.
