The Chicago Blackhawks could use some depth via the 2020 NHL Draft and Jack Quinn is an option for them in the upper-middle part of the draft.

The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot of interesting decisions to make over the next five years. They fired John McDonough as the President and CEO of the organization so things might start to take a different turn. They have a big draft this upcoming year whenever the NHL decides to do it. We don’t know how they will handle the lottery or order of selection but the Chicago Blackhawks need to have smart selections.

A player that might be a good option is Jack Quinn. Jack Quinn is an 18-year-old right-wing from Cobden, Ontario. He isn’t a big player as he stands at 5’11” and is only 176 lbs. That doesn’t matter that much as he is one of, if not the best pure goal scorer available in the draft. He might be available to the Blackhawks if they pick somewhere in the 10-20 range. He, as a pure goal scorer, would be a great addition to the Blackhawks top-six someday.

Obviously, you need to have some team size in the NHL but the Blackhawks drafted Kirby Dach in 2019 with the third overall pick and he is a big boy. Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane are on the smaller side but they are both already established as good NHL players that can contribute on a good team.

Quinn currently plays for the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL. 2019-20 was his second full season in the Ontario Hockey League and he exploded on the scene right at the perfect time. He had a remarkable 52 goals and 37 assists for 89 points in 62 games. Those goal totals are totally impressive. If you can score at that high of a volume at the OHL level you should be able to be a good scorer in the NHL as you mature. He’s one of the older players in the draft as he will be 19 by the time next season starts no matter when that is.

Jack Quinn might be one of those teenagers that is able to crack an NHL lineup right away but it isn’t guaranteed. He will either play for the team that drafts him or the Ottawa 67’s in 2020-21 with no other options. It will all depend on his showing in rookie camp, training camp, and the preseason. He could even get the nine-game tryout before his NHL team makes a decision. Once he is sent down, he wouldn’t be able to come back.

If he is available for Chicago when they are on the board, there might not be a better player to take. They need defense but depth at forward certainly won’t help, especially in a draft like this. A sniper that can score like Jack Quinn would be a really nice addition to this future Blackhawks core.
