The Chicago Blackhawks put together a gutsy win to force a game five.

The Chicago Blackhawks needed a big performance in game four to win and avoid being swept by the Vegas Golden Knights. They were able to squeeze out a gutsy 3-1 victory to force game five. If they would have lost, it would have made it two straight sweeps in playoff appearances for Chicago. They got the win, however, and put a very good Vegas Golden Knights team down. It certainly wasn’t a pretty victory but a win is a win.

The reason it wasn’t pretty is that it would be fair to say that the Hawks didn’t really even deserve to win this game. They won the game because Corey Crawford was spectacular. Vegas dominated the game but Crawford made 48 saves on 49 shots in the victory. He improved his record to 14-5 in elimination games which is incredibly good. The man has ice in his veins and all fans of this team should respect him for how good he is and has been.

His 48 saves were the most in an elimination game in the history of the Chicago Blackhawks. Tony Esposito holds the record and second place ahead of Crawford. There is no doubt that Corey Crawford is clutch and can get the job done for this team.

Matthew Highmore scored again in this game. He has been so impressive in these playoffs so far and the Hawks are lucky to have him. He was undrafted so it shows that he has worked so hard for every opportunity that he has been given up to this point. It would be awesome to see him stay productive and be an unsung hero for this team. His goal stood as the game-winner in game four.

One other player that has been dynamite in the past two games is Alex DeBrincat. He has had so many grade-a chances but hasn’t had any finish. You have to feel like his luck is soon going to change. It may have changed already as he was able to deposit the empty-net goal for Chicago and seal the victory. It was his first career playoff goal. Look for DeBrincat to have a big game on Tuesday night to try and help his team force game six.
