Chicago Craft Beer Weekend: April 9-11
Finding out about another new spot for beer. Khaos Brewcade is not only a brewpub, but also a retro video and pinball arcade. Always pulling for new brewers. Though their location, 12337 S. Route 59, Plainfield, IL has previously been the site of Limestone Brewing, Nevin’s and Midnight Pig. Fourth time lucky?
Friday, April 9
12:00 pm • Megapixel & Crash Landed Release
Begyle Brewing, 1800 W. Cuyler Ave., Chicago (773) 661-6963 Map
Spring has sprung and two of your Begyle favorites are back! Available in pints on our front patio and in various to-go options. Preorders start at 8pm on Thursday, 4/8.
Megapixel ABV 6%
This amber-colored IPA balances sweet notes of peach and papaya with bright citrus notes of tangerine and orange. Using a mosaic of, well, mosaic hops, we turned the resolution of this vibrant beer up to a million.
PATIO: 16 oz. pint ($7)
TO-GO: 16 oz. 4-packs ($12), 32. Oz. Crowlers ($10) and 64 oz. Growlers ($14)
Crash Landed ABV 7%
The first beer we brewed at Begyle, this not-so-subtle American pale wheat ale has an assertive hop bitterness with hints of citrus and floral notes, backed by a slightly sweet malt profile. It’s far from a palate-wrecker, but if your taste buds had seat belts, we’d tell them to buckle up.
PATIO: 16 oz. pint ($7)
TO-GO: 16 oz. 4-packs ($12), 32. Oz. Crowlers ($10) and 64 oz. Growlers ($14)

This month for our Kick the Keg cause, we’re planting trees with the Mokena Chamber of Commerce in honor of Earth Day!
We’re raising money this weekend, April 9th through the 11th by kicking some kegs to plant as many trees as we can! So come by and enjoy with us! We’ll start with some Dovetail Brewery Helles (you know you want some in this beautiful weather) and keep the beer flowing while supplies lasts!
2:00 pm • Beer Release – Zupersonic
Oswego Brewing Co., 61 S. Main St., Oswego, IL (331) 999-1991 Map
Zupersonic is collaboration brew with our friends from Flight in Yorkville. For this beer we decided to make an Italian inspired Pilsner with Zuper Saazar, Chinook and Altus hops. It’s drinking super crisp with hints of floral, spice and citrus.
3:00 pm • Kaiju Sensō Collaboration with Metal Monkey
Dry City Brew Works, 120B N. Main St., Wheaton, IL (630) 456-4787 Map
& Metal Monkey Brewing, 515 Anderson Dr. Ste 900, Romeoville, IL 630-862-9595 Map
It was inevitable. Battle vests were donned, and steeples rose from the north. The clash was brutal, but as the dust settled and kettles were cleaned, a new brew arose… Kaiju Sensо̄, a Belgian dark strong ale. It’s woody, molasses aroma transforms into a bready, sticky caramel with raisin taste that leaves you yearning for another sip.
Available starting Friday April 9th in cans, and on tap at Dry City Brew Works in Wheaton, and at Metal Monkey in Romeoville!

5:00 – 9:30 pm • The Return of Gelatinous Cube!
Miskatonic Brewing Co., 1000 N. Frontage Rd., Darien, IL (630) 541-9414 Map
Surfacing in May of 2019, Gelatinous Cube was a beast unlike one we had faced before. It took an Aslin, a Cleric, and a Monk to bring it to its final resting place, or so we thought! Now the beast has returned from the shadows, and we must suit back up for this long journey. Who will prevail? Will casualties be lost? Will it take a critical role to defeat it once and for all?
This Cinnamon-Mocha Inspired Imperial Milk Stout is loaded with cold brew coffee from our good friends over at Modest Coffee, hit with a splash of cassia bark, and sat on cacao nibs for the smooth finish. Gelatinous Cube draft will be on when we open at 3 pm and in 4-packs to consume on your favorite campaign.
Latin Fuego will be here serving up their delicious arepas at 5 pm, and we will be welcoming Bradley Hides Music in our barrel room at 6:30.
Traditionally, bring in your D20 and receive a discount on your purchase (must be a 4-pack of GC to qualify). Unfortunately, this discount will only apply to in-person orders.

Rock Island Public House, 13328 S. Olde Western Ave., Blue Island, IL 708-388-5513 Map
We kick off our baseball themed weekend with Major League! Considered by some to be the best, come see for yourself!

Tiger’s Blood Release + Saturday Night Food Truck – La Cocinita
Buffalo Creek Brewing, 360 Historical Lane, Long Grove, IL 847-821-6140 Map
Tiger’s Blood: a spring break small batch Pils packed with watermelon, coconut, and strawberry flavors.
5-8 pm: La Cocinita
Born and raised in Caracas, Chef Benoit Angulo has been making arepas, a Venezuelan specialty at La Cocinita, since he was 9 years old. This early passion for cooking inspired Benoit to attend culinary school as an adult. Benoit then moved to the States in 2001 to pursue his culinary career.
Rachel and Benoit met while working together at Commander’s Palace, a fine-dining restaurant in New Orleans. While enjoying drinks at a neighborhood bar late one night after a long shift, Rachel and Benoit became hungry, not having eaten since their 5 pm pre-shift meal. Disappointed with the absence of nearby late-night food options, Benoit pitched the idea of starting a food truck together. Benoit envisioned drawing from the feel and flavors of late-night street food carts lining a strip in Caracas referred to as “Calle del Hambre” (“Hunger Street”). Benoit introduced Rachel to his arepas, and soon thereafter, she fell in love with both Benoit and his cooking. The New Orleans truck opened for business on November 19th, 2011, at the same bar where it all started…and the rest is history!

3:00 – 4:00 pm • Cannibalism, Human Sacrifice, and Other Things to Pair with Beer: The Vikings in Ireland
Online with the Chicago Brewseum
Beer, or more accurately, ale, was of vital importance to both Viking and Irish society. From funerals to births, holidays, weddings and everything in between, ale played an integral role in the culture of these peoples. When the Vikings invaded and colonised Ireland in the early medieval period, they carried with them their social norms and systems of belief.
During this history happy hour, Dr. Christina Wade examines how Viking practices surrounding the creation and consumption of ale may have impacted the Irish. Using archaeological evidence as well as sagas and law tracts, this talk will analyse how these societies blended their cultural norms. Finally, it will make some meaningful conclusions as to the impact of each culture on their respective ale traditions.
This virtual beer history happy hour takes place at 3pm CST via Zoom and Facebook Live.

Here’s a little more about N.B.R.S.O.
…Scott Ligon sings and plays the guitar and piano. Casey McDonough sings and plays the bass.John Perrin sings and plays the drums.Bongo Randy drinks and plays bongos.
They are the primary shareholders of the North Berwyn Rhythm and Soul Organization – a collective featuring the cream of Chicago musicians. As well as that, Scott, Casey, and John are members of the critically acclaimed and highly regarded music group ‘NRBQ’. Being sought after session musicians, the 3 of them have recorded with and played in the bands of Chuck Berry, Brian Wilson, John Sebastian, Mavis Staples, Wanda Jackson, Robbie Fulks, JD McPherson, Pokey Lafarge, The Redwalls, and Jim Boggia. They are musical purists to an extreme extent – never using a set list and performing everything from Duke Ellington to Doug Sahm to Eddie Cochran – and as authentically as it’s ever been played before. Expect surprises – whether it be what you hear, or which special guest they have with them any particular night. Any performance of North Berwyn Rhythm and Soul Organization is not to be missed.
