Bryant was not a starter in the ballgame. He came in to replace Jesse Winker of the Cincinnati Reds in left field. He went 0-2 with a strikeout. Lots of guys go 0-2 but Bryant left five men on base in those two at-bats. It isn’t ideal because the National League lost to the American League by a final score of 5-2.

Luckily for Bryant, this means absolutely nothing. He had a very nice first half and proved a lot of people wrong. Now, he is going to go to a new team and the Cubs should get a decent amount back for him in a trade. It is unfortunate that he was unable to make it exciting on his way out but it is what it is.

The National League were hard-luck losers because they couldn’t get enough offense. Bryant left five men on as explained before and the team as a whole left on 12. They had chances to score but the American League pitching was always able to get out of it. On the other side of the coin, the American League All-Stars hit very well and capitalized on a few mistakes made by the NL.

It was good to see two Cubs play for the NL All-Stars in this one. We don’t know what the second half of the season for them but the future is going to be kept in mind. Regardless of what happens, you can be sure that the best intentions for the team will be there.
