The Cubs finish their home schedule with a record of 39-42. It was well over .500 before being swept by both the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals in the last seven days. This just hasn’t been the best season for the Cubs but they have done well playing in front of their home crowd for the most part.

Wrigley Field is a great place for Cubs fans to watch a game. They got to see some fun moments this season. They saw something huge like Kris Bryant’s return along with many other big Cubs wins. Early in the season, there was a lot more hope during home games and that led to some electric games.

The Chicago Cubs have had some fun moments at Wrigley Field this season.

One game that sticks out is the one where Javier Baez walked off the Cincinnati Reds while chirping Amir Garrett. The two teams clearly had some beef and Baez had the last laugh in that battle. It was one of his last ever games as a Cub so it will always be memorable.

After the final home game on Sunday, Willson Contreras was seen sitting in the dugout taking it all in. He is the last member of their former core left so it has to be a weird feeling for him to say goodbye this year. He now only has one year (2022) left on his current contract so nobody knows what is going to happen with him either. He hopes that he did not play his final game at Wrigley as a member of the Chicago Cubs but it is certainly possible.

The Cubs season is not over. They have a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates from Tuesday to Thursday followed by a final weekend series back in St. Louis against the Cardinals. The Pirates series is meaningless as they are the only team in the NL Central worse than the Cubs.

However, the Cubs can try and cool down the Cardinals before the playoffs begin. St. Louis can’t win the division anymore as the Milwaukee Brewers have clinched it but they are fighting to be a Wild Card team. No matter what, the Cubs want to play their rivals hard and go into the offseason feeling good about themselves.
