Trump said it himself: I like the numbers where they are.
Donnie’s daily “press briefings” are no more than a place for him to air his imaginary, petty grievances, berate Barack Obama and perform his non-stop, self-fellating braggadocio.
After that, he relinquishes the podium to allow for the obsequiousness required of anyone who works for him.
Before this is over, someone you know will be dead from complications due to Covid-19. It may not be a close friend, but it will be someone you know or know of.
Tomorrow I’m going to detail exactly how Trump’s actions – and inaction – have contributed to the deaths of thousands of Americans and sadly, thousands more to come.
In the mean time, the (partial) list below is a timeline highlighting the incompetence and malignance of a self-serving, self-centered man who puts his own interests ahead of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.
Don’t take my word for any of it, please check the facts for yourself. In most cases, you will be able to hear these things from Trump’s own mouth:
MAY 2018: Trump fired the White House pandemic response team, established by Barack Obama’s National Security Adviser, Susan Rice in 2015.
SEP 2019: Two months before COVID-19 began its advance in Wuhan, China, Trump ended a $200-million pandemic early warning program aimed at training scientists in China and other countries to detect and respond to pandemic threats.
JAN 22, 2020: About a pandemic threat, Trump says: No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.
JAN 24: Trump tweets, It will all work out well.
JAN 30: Trump says at a rally in Iowa, We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment, five, we think it’s going to have a very good ending for it.
FEB 2: Trump tells lying liar Sean Hannity, We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.
FEB 10: We’re in great shape in our country. We have 11, and the 11 are getting better.
FEB 14: Trump tells Border Patrol Council members, We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. It’s like around 12. Many of them are getting better. Some are fully recovered already. So we’re in very good shape.
FEB 19: Trump tells Phoenix TV station, I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.
FEB 23: Trump says …situation very much under control. We had 12, at one point. And now they’ve gotten very much better. Many of them are fully recovered.
FEB 24: Trump asks for $1.25 Billion in emergency aid. Congress raises it to a more reasonable $8.3 Billion.
Trump tweets that the virus is very much under control and the stock market starting to look very good to me!
FEB 25: Trump says to reporter, You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country.
FEB 26: Trump says we only have 15 cases and that will be going down to zero very soon.
FEB 27: Trump predicts, It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.
FEB 29: On Feb. 29, Trump falsely claimed a vaccine would be available very quickly and very rapidly and praised his administration’s actions as the most aggressive taken by any country, which is a lie.
MAR 2: Trump says that COVID-19 is less serious than the flu. We’re talking about a much smaller range of deaths than from the flu.
MAR 4: Trump tells Hannity, It’s very mild.
Trump falsely claims the Obama administration (including the vice president, Joe Biden) didn’t do anything about swine flu.
Trump falsely tells reporters, The Obama administration made a decision on testing that turned out to be very detrimental to what we’re doing.
MAR 6: Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar falsely tells ABC, There is no testing kit shortage, nor has there ever been.
Trump falsely tells reporters, Anybody that needs a test, gets a test. They’re there. They have the tests. And the tests are beautiful.
On allowing American passengers from the cruise ship Grand Princess to be treated onshore, Trump said, I like the numbers where they are. He was worried that TWO extra cases of COVID-19 would inflate his “numbers.”
MAR 7: Trump says, I’m not concerned at all.
MAR 10: Trump promises, It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.
MAR 17: Trump falsely claims (see above) I’ve always known this is a real, this is a pandemic. I’ve felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.
Trump falsely claims that the World Health Organization COVID-19 test was a bad test.
MAR 30: Again, Trump falsely claims on Fox, We inherited a broken test.
Ask yourself this: How could he have inherited a test for a virus that was previously unknown?
