Sign, sign
Everywhere a sign
Blockin’ out the scenery
Breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that
Can’t you read the sign?
Last week, I was walking into a branch of the Chicago Public Library. A woman walking beside me said, “Do I need to wear a mask here?” I believe she was talking to herself, but I pointed to a sign that said masks were required.
The next day I was shopping for some groceries. As I entered the store, someone said the same thing, “Do I need to wear a mask here?” I again pointed to a sign, but this one let customers know that masks were optional. The choice is yours. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.
Friday night, I went to a restaurant. No one, including the staff was wearing a mask. Saturday morning, I went to a department store. When I walked in without a mask, the greeter handed me a new one. Saturday night, I was at a wedding. No masks for the guests, bt the staff was wearing them.
It’s confusing, isn’t it? It’s hard to keep up with the rules, if there are even any rules. And it’s going to get even more confusing as more places around the country begin to loosen their requirements and open up.
After more than a year of having to wear a mask everywhere, we’re now at a point where no one knows for sure where, when or if masks are needed and required.
Masks on? Masks off? Sigh! No wonder the most question of the day is “Do I need to wear a mask here?”
I saw the sign
And it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
