Donald Trump, the pandemic, protests and 2020: Great for writers, bad for humanity
Twice every year I do a blog self-evaluation. Do I want to keep going or call it a day and move on to something new. They come at the end of the calendar year and the anniversary of the blog. This years anniversary was a few weeks ago. May 13. There wasn’t a second thought either time. We’re going on. Moving forward. Full speed ahead.
At the start of the year, I figured 2020 was going to be a bad one. With the election eleven months away and Donald Trump involved, you had to know it was going to be a shit-show. How can you stop writing when he gives you multitudes of material? The answer is…you can’t! I was right about Trump. Hell, that was easy to figure out. But, who would have guessed about the other disastrous things to follow?
Take a look at this list:
Democratic presidential primaries
Pandemic
USA shut down and quarantined
100,0000 plus dead Americans
40,000 unemployed
Peaceful protests and looting in every major American city
Shit, that would be enough to keep every serious writer busy. But, what if you’re aiming for some humor and satire in the midst of all this destruction? How about:
Hoarding toilet paper
Airlines
Politicians knowing more than scientists/doctors
Haircuts
Road trips during a pandemic
Donald Trump
Looking at these lists, there’s very fine line between what is a disaster and what is funny. In most cases, they are both. In Donald’s case, sadly for sure.
So when I hear complaints about someone having writer’s block or there isn’t anything to write about, I call out bullshit. All you have to do is take a look at the world around you. There’s something going on that’s easy to put to words….and sadly for humanity, it’s happening every single day. Even sadder, we’re not even at the halfway point of the year yet. Can you believe that? We still have the election coming up five months from today. Oh my f’ing God, imagine what that’s going to be like…both before and after November 3rd.
So far this year, I’ve penned seventy-seven pieces. The math breaks down to one every other day. I’m hoping to be less prolific next year. Although it’s still almost seven months away, but let’s hope 2021 will be worse for writers and better for humanity. Is it possible? God help us all if it’s not.

Meet The Blogger
Howard Moore
My so called friends think it’s time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don’t tell them that. I’ll deny it until they die!
I can’t believe I’ve been writing this blog for four years.
It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don’t know how to describe it anymore.
I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we’re good for four more years..God help us all!
Oh yeah…the biographical stuff. I’m not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog. -
