Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. Unfortunately, this is a sad one for Wanda Cooper. My heart aches for her and I can’t begin to imagine her pain.
As we all know, Wanda’s son was murdered on February 23. Ahmaud’s birthday was May 8 and he was born on Mother’s Day. Try to imagine not being able to celebrate your son’s birthday and Mother’s Day because evil, twisted white supremacists decided to take a black man’s life for no reason.
The purpose of this post is not to dwell on what happened. I composed this to ask people to stand up for what is right. This is about a fight for Ahmaud Arbery. This is about a fight for every person of color who has been wrongly accused or murdered. This is about a fight for justice and equality.
I Run With Maud
My goal is to take action because actions speak louder than words. I participated in the Run With Maud event on May 8th. Also, I’m joining groups, volunteering, and want to know what else I can do as a concerned citizen. Won’t you join me?

The beautiful painting of Ahmaud is by TL Duryea and the talented artist permitted me to share it. I recently became familiar with her work on Instagram, inspired by her portrayal of “sheroes.” She is a fellow activist and her portraits speak about justice and humanity.
