Chris Chelios is going to make Chicago Blackhawks fans proud on ESPN.

ESPN is getting ready to have their first season back with rights to games. There are so many great people that are going to be contributing to this and seeing Chelios there is going to bring a smile to the face of many Blackhawks fans. He also spent a great deal of time with the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings as well so those fans should enjoy it as well.

Chelios is a Chicago native that got to play with the Hawks for a long time. He also won the Stanley Cup three times and the Norris Trophy three times as well. Wherever he went in his NHL career, success followed. There is no doubt that this is a great move for ESPN because he is going to bring a wealth of hockey education to the viewing audience.

The NHL becoming partners with ESPN is phenomenal for the sport. For the last ten years or so, hockey fans have been annoyed with them because of their lack of coverage but why would they cover the only sport that they don’t have any rights to?

Now that they have each other’s best interest in mind, you can expect some top-quality coverage. It would be really nice to see the Chicago Blackhawks finally start to make good organizational decisions again so that they can be a good team. They will surely be a consistent feature on the network but they are a long way away from playing in the most meaningful games. If they ever do get to that point, however, it would feel really nice watching them play with Chelios analyzing the game.
