Pets in need of homes
Henry — Petraits Rescue
Henry is a sweetheart of a good-nautured, energetic and handsome, three-year-old, 63-pound, male black lab-mix looking for a loving guardian.
This very smart boy knows the commands sit, down, paw, other paw and is housebroken and crate-trained.
Henry loves most dogs but he does have a high prey drive with birds and small animals. He did get booted out of one home because he killed a pet duck.
He’s great with adults and teens, but is not good in a home with younger children. Henry is very enthusiastic about his food, and is not all that gentle taking treats. When a piece of food hits the floor, he will not allow a small human to claim it before him.
He’s generally quiet in the home when he gets enough exercise, but he does bark when he wants to play, when the doorbell rings, to go out for a walk or is just plain excited. He’s fantastic in the car and absolutely loves to play fetch.
He’s looking for a home, preferably with a fenced-in yard, with strong, active people who enjoy getting out for walks, runs and playing with their dog.
And, as much as he loves other dogs, he can be reactive and excited on leash. He walks pretty well with a harness, but could benefit from additional training.
He is extremely healthy, neutered, fecal-tested, up-to-date on rabies, distemper, bordetella and leptospirosis vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative.
His adoption fee of $350 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits and includes everything you need to care for him.
To meet and possibly adopt Henry, please e-mail [email protected] for an adoption application. He is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
