Valda Valbrun, chief executive of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Valbrun Consulting Group, was scheduled to give a virtual presentation to Hinsdale H.S District 86 about diversity, equity and inclusion on Jan. 13. She backed out citing a “hostile” district community. (Alvin Jacobs / HANDOUT)
Deplorable parents who object to racial school curriculum get libeled.
Sticks and stones were broken out in west suburban Hinsdale, prompting a diversity shaman to withdraw from instructing High School District 86 students with the papal-like dictates of racial wokeness. Too dangerous, said Valda Valbrun, whose bones seemingly were broken when parents abjected to her hiring.
In her resignation letter, she wrote:
The vitriol and lack of professionalism in the direct messages I received from members of your school community demonstrates a clear lack of goodwill to address issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in your district. I got several messages yesterday and really think Hinsdale is a dangerous place and would not be physically comfortable there.
Seems that some parents took exception to getting labeled and slandered. It was probably exceptionally galling to hear Superintendent Tammy Prentiss sass them in a statement:
From an ideological standpoint, the individuals who attended the meeting on Jan. 13 represent those in our community who have always opposed this work, regardless of what we have said to them publicly or privately. Prentiss said in the statement dated Jan. 18.
Never mind that the superintendent and the school board deserve scolding for hiring this woke warrior. That’s after a parent found this on Valbrun’s Facebook page: “[Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis and [Texas Gov. Gerg] Abbott are the devil. Just like Trump. I hope the entire GOP implodes.”
Gee, ya think that parents might get the idea that some political indoctrination was in store for their kids?
You might also have thought that the board and superintendent would have learned their lesson after having to terminate another “diversity, equity and inclusion expert” after the board’s Culture and Equity Leadership Team noticed one of her retweets:
Cops quitting because they won’t get vaxxed feels like a real two-birds-one-stone situation.
Will the third time be a charm?
