Disney released the 6th film in the Home Alone franchise on November 12th, 2021 directly to Disney Plus. It’s hard to get upset at how bad the film is. There have been a billion sequels to Home Alone, all trash, and it’s clear that Disney just needs content for its streaming platform. At this point I’m just used to Disney releasing content with no heart – just vapid, empty consumerism.

What I would really like to talk about is what Home Sweet Home Alone did right and how close they were to actually making an interesting sequel. Believe it or not, this film had some interesting ideas that I’m pretty sure other sequels didn’t try.
