“It’s Christmas, (All Over Mr. Robot),” that’s what I’m calling this post.
[embedded content]There’s a scene in Mr. Robot, Season 4, EP. 2 “Payment Required,” where Darlene and Elliot are in a bank trying to recover their mother’s safety deposit box, and New Edition’s “It’s Christmas (All Over The World)” is playing in the background. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
I had the cassette tape and listened religiously to that album. New Edition was my favorite band, and at that time, side note, the Candy Girl album eluded me. I could not find that tape ANYWHERE! Not Hornsbys, not Alco, not Big Lots. Rough, right? Then, there was no online, there was no eBay, Discogs, or Amazon. There was the Swapmeet, some call it the 7-Mile-Fair, where I could buy bootleg tapes, which I did, every weekend, many times. But onward, that song was my favorite. It brought back so many memories.
Leave it to Mr. Robot to bring back the nostalgia. Maybe even a few tears? Life is hard for every single one of us.
