Izzy is a beautiful, sweet, friendly, gentle and loving eight-year-old (best guess), 50-pound Shepherd/Husky-mix looking for a loving guardian.
Izzy is a wonderful dog who was left behind in Marion, Illinois, when her human was evicted in March of 2020. She arrived at the Williamson County Animal Control on March 16th. After waiting in vain for three weeks for her human to retrieve her, she was transported to Friends of Petraits Rescue in Chicago.
Izzy is absolutely fabulous! She is housebroken, crate-trained, great on leashed walks, great with other dogs, cats – even guinea pigs, and loves people.
She is full of wags and kisses for everyone she meets. I don’t have any tester kids around … so I must say I’ve only seen her with adult humans.
She is great in the car, and loves to play ball. She loves to snuggle on the couch, and sleep in bed with you. She was obviously allowed on furniture in her former home. And, she was clearly left outside way too much, and not given monthly heartworm preventative because she has sadly tested heartworm – positive and the tips of her ears are bare with fly bites.
She is the third dog currently in the Friends of Petraits Rescue who has tested positive for heartworm and is awaiting treatment, once this pandemic has subsided.
To meet and possibly adopt Izzy, please contact friendsofpetraits@gmail.com for an adoption application. She is spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, dewormed, de-flead, and otherwise extremely healthy. Her adoption fee of $300 includes her treatment for heartworm disease.
She is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
