Jeremy Colliton already has a new head coaching jobVincent Pariseon February 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm

The Chicago Blackhawks fired Jeremy Colliton back in November after a horrid start to the season. it was a tough tenure for him as he had to replace Joel Quenneville who had been so successful there before him. He was unfit to coach this team at this point in his career and at this point in time due to Chicago’s roster.

A lot of Hawks fans will always remember Colliton with a negative attitude but that isn’t totally fair. His system truly was bad for this roster and there wasn’t a lot of talent either. The management team above him put him in a very bad spot.

There will come a time when Colliton is back in the National Hockey League as a coach. He will have learned a lot from this experience with the Hawks and other experiences he has between now and then. His next big task will come in China.

The National Hockey League is not going to the Olympic Games in China because of issues related to COVID-19. As a result, all of the players and coaches currently in the NHL are staying with their clubs in North America.

Jeremy Colliton is being given a big opportunity by Team Canada at the Olympics.

When that happened, Colliton was named to be one of the assistant coaches for Team Canada under Claude Julien. Julien had been a very successful (Hall of Fame worthy) coach with the New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, and Montreal Canadiens. It is likely that Colliton absorbed a lot of great coaching information from a legend like that.

Unfortunately, during a Team Canada training camp in Switzerland, he fell on the ice and fractured his ribs. The medical staff determined that he won’t be able to fly to China for the Games. As a result, the team promoted Colliton to be the head coach.

Even though it is tough to see Julien go down with this injury, it is a huge opportunity for Colliton. It is probably a dream come true for him to coach Canada in the Olympics. It is hard to evaluate the team’s thanks to a lack of NHL talent but Team Canada should be pretty good.

He will have a chance to be a Gold Medal-winning head coach at 37 years old. The fact that Team Canada, even without NHL coaches available, thinks this highly of him, is a great sign for his future. The Blackhawks weren’t able to get the most out of him but his time will come.
