Lacuna Lofts offers unparalleled event and commercial space; however, in my opinion, it’s an art lover’s utopia. I could spend hours upon hours appreciating the art and concocting ways to live here permanently despite having no artistic ability.
The artwork
This enormous structure is bursting at the seams with art inside and out. The art periodically changes, so I visit as often as possible to see what’s new. I was eager to find the new mural by a local duo, KOZMO and The Paint Reaper. This husband and wife team produced yet another masterpiece together.
Wrdsmth, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in person in Los Angeles, has several pieces here. I have followed him for years and always get inspired when I see his work.
Other artists who currently show off their craft here include Jeff Blackburn, Vavi Solomon, Caroline Liu, and Benjamin Stanley.
You can’t miss the black and white exterior wall, especially with the pop of color from the rooftop. This 5,000 square foot beauty is by the talented Lauren Asta and it’s her biggest mural to date.
Hours and location
The first floor is open to the public weekdays from 9 am – 5 pm and this is where you will find the fetching, thought-provoking artwork. Lacuna Lofts is in the artsy Pilsen neighborhood at 2150 S. Canalport near Halsted St. Whether you’re interested in renting out space or canoodling with the art, I highly recommend checking this venue out.
