The Barbershop: Dennis Byrne, Proprietor
Letter from the huddled masses
My dear fellow Americans,
Are you fed up yet? Have you lost your job? Your retirement savings? Do you live in fear that the coronavirus cure is worse than the disease? (See my earlier post here.)
And who in hell came up with the phrase, “shelter” in place?” “Shelter” is much too comfortable to describe what the all-wise, all-knowing government has imposed on us. “Cower…” in place,” is more like it. “Cringe…,” “dread…,” “fret…,” “stew…,” and “depress in place” are more certainly and accurately descriptive.
Is there ever been a time in American history when millions have been ordered to stay inside?
How long can this continue?
Below are photos of an empty St. John’s Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Usually teeming with paying shoppers on a weekend, stores after stores are shuttered, their employees out of work, their owners facing bankruptcy, their suppliers shut down and their taxes no longer supporting those “essential services” still needed during the pandemic.
