MLB meeting to discuss suspension of Spring Training/Regular Season due to COVID-19
Representatives from all 30 MLB teams are currently on a conference call regarding plans of action for ongoing the COVID-19 pandemic. After today’s games (the Cubs game has already been called due to inclement weather), the suspension of both the Cactus and Grapefruit League play is expected. A potential delay to the start of the regular season is also on the table.
It was announced last night, after a member of the Utah Jazz tested positive for the virus, that the NBA season is being suspended. MLS has also suspended its season. The NHL is considering the same action. Multiple NCAA tournaments have been canceled or will be played without fans in attendance.
The Cubs have ordered their scouts on the road to return home.
I will try to update this article throughout the day as information comes out.
UPDATE 1:
Announcement expected shortly that MLB will be suspending operations. More details to come.

After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it’s a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen.

The NHL has officially suspended their season.
UPDATE 3:
Have heard that the plan, if approved by ownership, was to suspend the first 2 weeks of MLB games and reassess along the way. Roughly through April 8.
