Eight days into the Apollo 11 mission and the coverage by the Chicago Tribune has declined drastically. Despite competing stories, the headline of today’s newspaper is still dedicated to the mission. To celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, we are sharing images of coverage by the Chicago Tribune that was published each day throughout the duration of the mission.
Moon Men Will Visit Chicago
Not only has the focus turned to the return of the crew to Earth, but news that the crew will visit Chicago soon after they return. The crew of Apollo 11 would end up taking a Goodwill tour around the world.
Mission Coverage and News
Mission news today was dedicated to more of the initial findings about the Moon that resulted in experiments done by astronauts. Additional astronaut moments in space were shared, including how the astronauts prepare meals. A funny quip about the state of the stock market and astronaut Armstrong’s reaction also made the news today.
Spaceflight Snippets
Comics, addresses from religious leaders, and speculation about how Armstrong came up with his first words spoken on the Moon are here.

Meet The Blogger
Sophie Sanchez
I’m a tiny bit obsessed with space. I’m told it’s an acceptable obsession because I take what I learn and share it with others. If I’m not writing about space, among other things, I’m busy doing science with one of the many student orgs I volunteer with or, advocating to bring more STEM programs to underrepresented students. I miss working in a lab, so invite me out to see yours!
