MOON FINAL edition of the Chicago Tribune for the coverage of the Apollo 11 Moon landing the morning after. Hopefully this will be the first and not the only time we see that stamp used on an edition of the paper. This week mark’s the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission and to celebrate we’ve been sharing mission coverage each day as it appeared in the Chicago Tribune and other Chicago newspapers.
Moon Final Front Pages
The Chicago Tribune went with the headline, Moon Walk Completed, over an image of the surface of the Moon. Chicago Daily News published a full page image of Armstrong and Aldrin on the surface of the Moon with the headline, A giant leap!, blazoned across the top.
Reports of Success and Daring
The final Monday edition of the paper was filled with reports from Houston detailing everything from a minute by minute sequence of events to news about the experiments and activities being carried out on the Moon. These are some of the stories that filled the first few pages of coverage.
