The Barbershop: Dennis Byrne, Proprietor
More messy reporting
We were greeted with this headline this morning: “Congress won’t get briefings about election security because ’we got tired’ of leaks, Trump says”
Not quite. From the headline, we are led to believe that the Trumps administration will stiff Congress by not
giving it any more briefings. I just listened to Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe tell Maria Sara Bartiromo on Fox News that the briefing would continue according to the law. In other words, the intelligence committee leadership will continue to get the intelligence briefings.
But no longer will the entire Congress be briefed. When he did before, he said, within minutes some members of Congress went to several media outlets to leak classified information. I would point out that such leaks are a violation of law.
He said he’s fed up with these damaging leaks for political purposes. Like misbehaving children, they no longer can be trusted.
