New police tactics needed to end antifa violence
At the outset, I’ll say that I’m no expert on police tactics–which will quickly become evident.
But I had some thoughts that might or might not make sense. The lines of cops moving forward reminds me of how wars were fought in the 19th century. Lines of military facing each other. One pushing, one retreating. Then retreating and pushing. Nothing gets resolved. Innocent people get hurt.
So….
Go after the antifa punks. You know when they come out, like bats out of the cave in the dark. They seem all to be dressed in black–black clothing, black masks, black hoodies. They rush to and fro, much faster than the police cordons can move.
Use intelligence to infiltrate the antifa, just like the antifa infiltrates peaceful marchers. Uncover cops, radio equipped who can spot future targets and warn what I would call flying squads of highly mobile police. Use the same tactics that the antifa employ. Hit them where they live.
One other suggestion: Set early curfew (11 p.m. in New York City was laughable) and win the cooperation of peaceful protesters to stay home. Take away the place where the antifa hides amongst the marchers. If they decide to loot and burn, they will easier to identify.
Is this too much to ask of peaceful demonstrators? Will it show weakness or abandonment of their passionate goals? No, but it will take courage, to sit it out while the violence ends. It would be an elegant silence to rid themselves of the punks who are disrespecting the marchers and George Floyd.
And finally, the media, would have to respect and support these tactics. While watching the violence on TV, it occurs to me that there are more people using their cell phones to video the violence. All the bystanders can help by putting away their cell phones.
