One to Forget–White Sox 10 Cubs 1
There are just some games that you have to forget, and tonight was one of those nights. The regression monster continued to bite Jon Lester as did the top of the Cubs lineup struggles at the plate. This one was over early as the White Sox young sluggers bashed the Cubs pitching staff to post a double digit run total, and the Cubs only managed a single tally against White Sox ace Dallas Keuchel.

Jose Abreu cracked it open with a three run bomb in the third inning. The White Sox added a solo shot and a two run homer in the fourth inning extending their lead to 8-0. Lester was out of the game before the Cubs offense reached base for the first time in the bottom of the fourth.
Eloy Jimenez hit a monster shot in the seventh inning in Colin Rea’s second inning of work. Dallas Keuchel cruised through eight innings of work. The bottom of the Cubs lineup managed to do a little damage against the White Sox southpaw, but it was too little too late with their second rally occurring the bottom of the eighth.
Victor Caratini didn’t start but managed to lace two hits. A leadoff double in the eighth got the Cubs offense going. Albert Almora Jr. moved the Victory Carrot to third with a one out single. Nico Hoerner hit an opposite field single to drive in Caratini. The run was only significant in that it means the Cubs still haven’t been shut out in 2020.
Jose Abreu hit another home run to finish the scoring. The one out blast in the top of the ninth was a solo shot making it a 10-1 game, but thankfully Adams was able to punch out the next two batters to bring the game to a merciful close. Technically it wasn’t over until the Cubs went quietly against Jace Fry, but it had been over for quiet a while prior to the 27th out being recorded.
Random Reference
The rivalry that matters far more to some than it ever does the standings, and that might make tonight a hard pill to swallow.
