Kane is still having a really good year but Alex DeBrincat deserved to be in over him. This is his first time making it to the big event and he should be proud. He is currently having an elite goal-scoring season with 23 goals and 9 assists for 32 points in 39 games.

The assist total is low but he is on pace for 48 goals which would be amongst the league leaders if he reached that number. He has the ability to score thanks to his shot and his compete-level around the net.

The Chicago Blackhawks have an All-Star level player in Alex DeBrincat.

DeBrincat is going to be surrounded by elite talent. He will share a bench with his Central Division teammates in Kyle Connor, Kirill Kaprizov, Clayton Keller, Jordan Kyrou, Nathan Mackinnon, Joe Pavelski, Cale Makar, Juuse Saros, and Cam Talbot. It is a very good team that has a legit chance to win the thing.

That list of players was the initial roster that came out. The NHL conducted a “Last Man In” vote for fans to vote in one more player per division. Seth Jones was Chicago’s representative on the ballot to try and get another Hawk in but he was beaten out by Nazem Kadri of the Colorado Avalance. That confirms that only one Blackhawks player will be there in Vegas.

To be honest, whether DeBrincat is the right choice or not, the Hawks only deserve to have one player in the All-Star Game. This team has been mostly pathetic for the entire season and has no business being put in the spotlight in a positive way. However, seeing DeBrincat get this opportunity is going to be a lot of fun.
