Pendry brings artists to neighborhoods
I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by Pendry Chicago. Pendry partnered with five local artists to paint live at locations throughout the city. The goal was to allow the community to take part, and the finished pieces will be on display at Pendry in June. This is what Chicago needs more of!
The talented artists and locations included:
- (Sub)urban Warrior at Jackson Junge Gallery
- Birdcap at Mary Bartelme Park
- Oscar Joyo at Mariano Park
- Rawooh at Connect Gallery
- Elloo at Vault Gallerie
I could only choose one location
Unfortunately, I had a busy Saturday and could only attend one of the five. I chose to rub elbows (literally) with Oscar Joyo since I have followed him for a while. I watched him paint a mural in Pilsen, so it was exciting to finally meet face-to-face. I also enjoyed observing from a distance because people seemed to really be getting involved.
Pendry’s grand opening!
Pendry Chicago is a luxury hotel that opens in the heart of downtown on May 26th. From the photos I have seen, the hotel is stunning. Pendry has some impressive amenities, including a café/bar, seasonal rooftop space, a fitness center, and more. The hotel has several offers to fit different budget needs, so hit that reserve button!
Thank you, Pendry Chicago, for supporting artists and creating inspiration before your opening.

My greatest passion is street art. I’m constantly pounding the pavement in search of murals with eyes wide open, so follow me on my colorful journey. View all my findings on Instagram @chicagosartandbeerscene
Another passion is beer. I consider myself a beer snob with a preference given to dark beer, especially stouts and barrel-aged. I’m always willing to try new styles because beer is life. Prost!
