Pub Royale — come for the food, stay for the beer
I enjoy surprises, particularly favorable ones. I found out about Pub Royale while perusing places to eat near Fatpour before the Revolution Brewing party in January. Little did I know this Indian/British establishment is a beer lover’s paradise.
That ambience though
Upon entry, I was welcomed and immediately took in all the grandeur. There are many notable details including Indian masks, exposed brick, unique lighting, and stuffed peacocks overseeing the bar. I highly recommend arriving early so you can feast your eyes on more than your plate.
Couldn’t pass up a rare beer
While looking over the menu, my server suggested I start with a beer. I explained that I was heading to a heavy-duty beer event after dinner so I didn’t think it wise. I took a peek at the menu, which convinced me it wouldn’t hurt to do a four-ounce pour given it was a rare beer from Half Acre. Big Hugs is an Imperial Coffee Stout that is coffee-forward with notes of cocoa.
Beer board
Pub Royale has a fun, sophisticated beer board giving customers updates on new arrivals. This is a good idea since they offer 24 wide-ranging taps including several cider options. All drafts are available in a four-ounce glass to make your taste buds dance to a different tune.
Mouthwatering food
I wholeheartedly had one of the best meals of my life here. I chose the Fall Dal Curry after careful consideration and feedback from my terrific server. While I love traditional Indian food, it’s a bit rich at times. Pub Royale’s food is on the non-traditional side. My dish consisted of mixed lentils, parsnips, rutabaga, spinach, and cherry tomatoes. It was flavorful and light with an attractive presentation.
While I’m a few years late to the game, I’m elated that my preview party led to the discovery of this fantastic pub! Come for the food, stay for the beer.

Another passion is beer. I consider myself a beer snob with a preference given to stouts and porters. I’m always willing to try new styles because beer is life. Prost!
