I’ve been writing about Broken Social Scene’s forthcoming album a lot lately so I assumed that “Shame On You” was just another b-side that I hadn’t heard yet. But, you know when you assume you make an ass out of u and me, right?

Enter, Palace, a rock band from London that sound like the Brit Pop I grew up with…and a bit like BSS at times. Regardless, from here on out they will be on my #RADAR.

Hippo, back! “Ride Or Die” is the latest, and my least favorite single from LP3 thus far. I was smitten with, “Boys,” and dug “Semi Pro,” but I’ll need to give this new one a few more spins before I throw stones. Get ready for another big February release.

Who’s that scratching at your front door? It’s DJ Shadow kids, cutting up this funky jam by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. I feel like the art of scratching is on its way out, so I love to hear Shadow still keeping the technique alive.

Spoon’s, “Wild” is the latest cut from Lucifer on the Sofa, due out in February. They are calling this a classic rock affair? Whatever it is, it sounds damn good.

“Sky and I (Himlen)” is the third single from the Shout Out Louds‘ 6th album House, due out in February. It features that woman we’ve all had a crush on, keyboardist Bebban Stenborg. The last time I saw them in concert I felt guilty for staring at her. She was mesmerizing and I couldn’t take my eyes away. February should prove to be a huge month for new album releases.

Musicians, priests, and podcast hosts unite to turn your stories into songs. This is how !!! got involved in “All I Wanted Was A Photograph” and boy does the outcome sound good. Send lawyers, guns, and money, get me out of this!

Not much excitement in hearing Yoko Ono covers, but Death Cab for Cutie’s Benjamin Gibbard is curating Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono and the lineup of artists involved does look interesting. David Byrne and Yo La Tengo are up first, sharing their single “Who Has Seen the Wind.” David’s voice sounds great but I wish there were more Yo La Tengo vibes on this track, it seems one-dimensional.

“Falun Gong Dancer” has a really cool vibe, and I felt compelled to add it to the rundown this week. Telefis is an electro-pop collaboration between Cathal Coughlan (frontman/founder of Microdisney and Fatima Mansion) and producer Jacknife Lee (U2, Blur). Upon further investigation, I’ve found that their instrumental stuff is really fun.
