DD Walker toured with Bear Hands behind their Fake Tunes record and we saw him play guitar with the band at Beat Kitchen. After the show, he chatted us up outside and was a generous human being, I love meeting musicians like this. His latest single feels like the start of something big. Maybe it’s his new look, maybe it’s his new sound, “Only Two At The Start,” but he’s bringing the bravado at all points.

The B-Side will include a live performance of that same crowd favorite from Montreal. I can’t get enough of Atmosphere these days. His last two records have brought out his best work and forced me to take a second look at his back catalog.

The first single, “Favor” is good, but let’s hear the finished product before we start writing checks we can’t cash.
[embedded content]San Holo is working on a new record and “Find Your Way” follows his formula. Write a fancy pop number and grab an interesting singer to croon about said beat. I like it, but I’m hoping he’s going to branch out soon before he wears that style out.
[embedded content]Chicago talent Vic Mensa can hold his own on any track, but attaching his flag to Chance and Wyclef might be his best move yet. This trio just feels right. I could see a whole album of Jean’s guitar playing and production, with Mensa and Chance splitting time.
[embedded content]Pete Yorn is doing an album of covers and he adds some horns and a swinging upbeat to Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay.”

See you next week on “Release Radar!” and in the meanwhile, subscribe to my blog below.
