Roseland man dies month after mattress fireon February 6, 2021 at 1:05 am

A Roseland man died of his injuries Wednesday about a month after a mattress fire at his home in the South Side neighborhood.

Joe Clark, 52, was critically injured when he tried to put out a mattress that was on fire about 2 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 100 block of West 112th Street, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died Wednesday of complications from burn injuries, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy ruled his death an accident.
