Sky Rink: a winter wonderland at the Peninsula Chicago to open for winter season
Chicago offers a generous number of places to ice skate from neighborhood parks to McCormick Ice Rink in Millennium Park.
But if you are looking for something extra special and unique, the Peninsula Chicago offers the perfect Winter Wonderland Sky Rink for skaters, special events, private parties, hotel guests and everyone else.
The five-star hotel, known for its gracious hospitality and world-class service is celebrating the winter season with an exciting line-up of holiday events including ice skating and festive treats at their Sky Rink.
The Sky Rink offers a magical and romantic setting that’s beared witness to many marriage proposals as well as family fun.
The Sky Rink will open Saturday, November 20th as art of the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.
Nestled above the glamorous tree-lit Mag Mile, the Sky Rink is surrounded by Chicago skyscrapers and outfitted with a 2,100 sq ft (200 sq m) hybrid rink, festive music snowflake lighting, benches and more.
The skating rink’s outdoor menu features wine, hot chocolate, hot cider, and other treats. Blankets are provided to keep away the chill. Bench seating is available.
Dates and Hours
Sky Rink is open Fri – Sun starting Nov 20 (the weekend before Thanksgiving). Then open daily Dec 20 – Jan 2 (when most kids are out of school). Then back to Fri – Sun in Jan and Feb.
All dates are based on availability.
Price
Skates are available for rent at US$ 20 for adults and US$ 10 for children 12 and under, the proceeds from which are donated to two Chicago children’s charities: Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and Hephzibah Children’s Association.
PLEASE NOTE: Since the rink is a synthetic surface skaters are required to use the Sky Rink skates that are suitable for gliding. on this surface.
Sky Rink Rentals
Reservations are not required for the Sky Rink, however, people should call first as the rink can be booked.
