The Blackhawks couldn’t even give Marc-Andre Fleury one goalVincent Pariseon February 19, 2022 at 5:31 pm

The Chicago Blackhawks played a very tough game against the Dallas Stars on Friday. It was the second half of a back to back which always makes it even harder to win. Marc-Andre Fleury played out of his mind and the team still managed to lose.

You can make an argument that Fleury’s 29 save on 29 shot performance was his best of the entire season. Some of those saves that he made were absolutely incredible, including a save of the year candidate. Unfortunately, despite giving up 0 goals, the Hawks lost the game.

Fleury allowed two shootout goals (one in extra frames) and Alex DeBrincat was the only shooter to score for Chicago so they were unable to win despite a Fleury shutout. They couldn’t even get their elite goalie one goal in a game that he played so well and it was a shame to watch.

Of course, the writing is on the wall that Fleury will not end the season with Chicago. He is one of the NHL’s all-time great goalies and has never missed the playoffs in any of his years with the Pittsburgh Penguins or Vegas Golden Knights. This won’t be the year that he breaks that streak.

Marc-Andre Fleury has been sensational for the Chicago Blackhawks this year.

It will be really cool to see Fleury move on to another team that has a chance to win the Stanley Cup. Teams like the Colorado Avalance, Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings are all in the mix and could use an upgrade at goaltender like Fleury.

He was the story from this game. The night before they gave up seven goals without him in the net and then he comes in the next day and doesn’t give up a single goal. He has proven that he is still incredibly capable of being an elite goalie in the league.

His years may be numbered but he should continue to be very good as long as he wants to be. It would have been nice to see him have winning success in Chicago but it just wasn’t meant to be. Still, it is cool to have a legend like that in town for a short time.

The Blackhawks will have another chance to score some goals for Fleury on Sunday when they play a Sunday afternoon game against the Florida Panthers. They are the best team in the NHL so it will be interesting to see if they are able to play well against them at home. Fleury will need to be that good again to even have a chance.
