When Rick Hahn stripped the Chicago White Sox down for a rebuild and started building it back, it felt different. When the Chicago Cubs hired Theo Epstein, it felt different. When the Chicago Bulls fired GarPax and brought in Arturas Karnisovas, it felt different. Unfortunately, the Chicago Bears have done nothing different with this search.

The good news is that they won’t have to play at that dump Soldier Field for much longer. It is almost certain that they will be playing Bears football in Arlington Heights, Illinois within the next few years. It should be a really nice stadium that gives Chicago Bears fans a good experience but we shouldn’t be certain that good football will be played there by the home team.

The new Chicago Bears head coach has no chance of coaching in Arlington Heights.

It is so obvious that whoever they hire right now has no chance of being the head coach when they kick-off for the first time in that stadium. Because the exact same people are hiring the new regime this time around, the new hire should fall right in line with Marc Trestman, John Fox, and Matt Nagy.

Not having faith that the new hire will be around that long is horrid. The Chicago Bears really need to change the way that they do things but it doesn’t sound like they are going to. Winning the Super Bowl should be the goal for most coaches but making it to Arlington should be the first small goal for whoever this coach is.

Beyond making it to Arlington, there are other issues at hand as well. The Bears really need to develop Justin Fields into a good NFL quarterback. With the way they handled people like Jay Cutler and Mitchell Trubisky, it is hard to see happening. It would be nice to finally see this organization prove us all wrong and start making good decisions that lead to more winning.
