Esther Joy King came within 7000 votes of winning this seat in 2020. She is back on the campaign trail in the 2022 17th CD election, hoping to win and help flip control of the U. S. House to Republicans in November.
The IL 17th CD is a diverse urban, suburban, exurban and rural district covering northern IL cities of Rockford and Freeport, stretching along the Iowa and Illinois western border including such cities as Savanna, Fulton, East Moline and Moline and extending to areas of central and southern Illinois including such cities and towns as Galesburg, Macomb, Canton, Peoria, and Bloomington.
Berkowitz and U.S. Rep candidate Esther Joy King discuss the issues she is running on, which include, among others, the skyrocketing cost of living, out of control crime, the embarrassment of the chaotic U S exit from Afghanistan, illegal migrants coming across the southern border at the rate of 2 million/year- exacerbating the social problems of illegal drugs in the IL 17th CD and sex trafficking in the U. S., President Biden’s authoritarian vaccine and mask mandates, age inappropriate sex education and the divisive critical race theory being taught in IL schools.
The background of millennial Esther Joy King growing up on the southern border in Juarez and El Paso, some of the time homeless with missionary parents who home schooled her in preparation for Oral Roberts University and Northwestern University Law School, is also discussed.
Esther subsequently practiced law at Kirkland and Ellis, one of the largest and most influential law firms in the world and now practices law in the IL 17th CD in East Moline.
During the show, a picture of Esther Joy King, Captain and Reservist member of the United States Army, is shown of her using her rifle. Use of her military rank, job titles, and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the Army or the Department of Defense.
Putting her Afghanistan background to humanitarian use, Esther Joy King worked intensively, passionately and effectively to help fifty-one young, Afghani girls escape the tyranny of the Taliban and emigrate to the U. S. in the last week of the U S military presence in Afghanistan in August, 2021, and that is noted during the show.
