One of the best things to come out of this pandemic is Robert Magiet. Robert owns TaKorea Cocina and is one of the most giving humans in the city. He takes pride in making sure his neighbors are well taken care of, especially during COVID-19.
Robert’s goal becomes a reality
Robert started West Town Feeds with the goal of feeding people who are in need. One way he is accomplishing this is to buy out tamale vendors, allowing the community to reap the benefits. Robert has a soft spot for tamale vendors, as buying all their tamales gets them out of the cold and back home to their family.
Street vendors he has helped
Here are a couple of examples of his recent generosity (all photo credits belong to West Town Feeds and used with permission from Robert).
Robert and his friend, Alex Chan, drove around for almost an hour before finding Fedelena and her food stand. She had 38 dozen tamales left and they bought all of them. Alex distributed the tamales at various Love Fridge locations. Also, Alex has sold Bernie bottle openers and used a portion of the sales to buy these tamales. So much goodness!
Robert and friends helped Clara with her tamale sales; however, she insisted on keeping some for her regulars. Clara was so affected by this kindness that she intends to donate her Champurrado and Arroz con Leche one day. Helping others is what makes the world go round, right?
How you can help!
If you can give to this wonderful cause, please do so via Venmo @takoreacocina or Zelle at 773-807-0057. A big thank you to Robert and his friends for their caring, generous hearts. And, don’t forget to show his restaurant some love.
