WHY Scarlett IS A HERO!
Some dismiss the notion that animals are emotional. I don’t buy that.
No matter what side of the political aisle one might find themselves on, there is one thing we all agree on. First responders like firefighters and police officers are often referred to as heroes.
So, look at the picture above again. That’s a mama cat who ran toward flames – 5 times, to rescue one at a time each of her babies. That’s not only courage but that’s a mother’s love that we all know is the greatest love of all.
The firefighters who were trying to put out the garage inferno, where Scarlett and her kittens lived, tried to grab the cat and stop her only to have Scarlett allude their arms. Scarlett wouldn’t stop until she had dragged out each and every one of her babies.
Her endeavors to save her family caused her paws to be burned, damaged her ears, singed her muzzle, and bubbled her eyes from the heat. Fortunately one of the firefighters took her to a vet where she received treatment.
Here is a picture of Scarlett after recovery.
All of Scarlett’s kittens were adopted through the work of a local Animal Welfare Society that found them permanent homes.
Scarlett was also adopted through the GO DO GOOD work of that same humane charitable organization. That’s why it is so important to recognize not only Scarlett as a hero but also the good people who work diligently to help and care for our furry friends.
Betty White knew how important that work was and we all love Betty for her talent, for the joy she brought us with her comical roles, and for her love for animals.
Be like Betty!
Please consider supporting your local animal shelter. I work as a volunteer at the West Suburban Humane Society in Downers Grove, IL., and can be contacted at 630-960-9600 or via their website at www.wshs-dg.org.
